Bicycles

These bicycles are very loosely based on the Raleigh models of the mid 1960’s. They are not an easy thing to make but are dimensionally accurate. Both bikes have 26″ wheels and Sturmy Archer 3 speeds ( check the handlebars ! ). The cross bar bikes have 23″ frames and the step through’s have 21″ frames.

There are two designs of handlebars which were classed as touring and town.  The touring or “road” bikes have a smaller and shallower Brooks B17 saddle and a less complete chain guard.  The cross bar bike has a saddle bag of canvas and the step through a small front basket.

The “town” bikes have the complete chain guard and a deeper and solidly sprung Brooks B66 saddle.   Both bikes are fitted with the Raleigh pressed steel ( and rubbishly weak ) rear carrier.

Gates

The gates are given a code based on their design (A to F) and width in feet (6 or 8 or 12).

These gates include the original wooden gates in version1 of the pack but with the colours toned down. These are gates A12 and A8 as well as the double gates AA8. I have added a new wooden gate design B8 that features a central upright.

I have added a range of metal gates that should be of the right period for 1900 – 1960’s based on images and drawings. These are the C to F series.  Most iron gates seem to be wider farm gates and look better dividing fields.

I have also added two footgates, a plain wooden swing gate and a metal kissing gate based on one that is local to me.

Homes & Towns

These assets are particularly aimed at replacing some of the harder to find downloads that used to appear on UKTS but are needed for my LMVLR route

There are two designs of washing lines with clothes line A meant for attaching to the side of a house.  The picture doesn’t really show that the washing is not as “grey” as it appears but is more normal colours.  I have tried to give it movement rather than just hanging limply.

The garden swing in primrose yellow is a typical 1950 to 1960 design based on photographs and my memory of the one we had as children in the mid 60’s.

The other items are just indulgence.  The Lyons Maid board is one I remember as a kid and the menu A frame is blurry so that it will do for any eating establishment.

Yards & Loading

I have created quite a few loads as seperate scenic items that match the contents of my Southwold wagons As part of the work I had to make some replacement coal sacks and wanted to make some folded sacks to put on the back of my coal merchants Bedford Van.

The wagon loading steps are a copy of something I saw on a photograph being used to access a BR Box Van from ground level. I made one of them folded up despite a complete lack of evidence that this was possible just to enable me to have them as “clutter”.

The two sack trucks are based on real dimensions of the smaller “Lorry Pattern” and the larger squared “Manchester Pattern” I found in a catalouge.  The lorry pattern truck can just about fit a single milk churn.   The platform trolley is based on the standard BR / ex LMS design.

Advertisments

I needed to replace the advertisements on the LMVLR – especially at Waterhouses.  It is hard to avoid adverts for tabacco based products but I managed to find some unusual ones and also a couple I remember such as the Whites Lemonade one.

The adverts all have metal backs so they can be hung on station fencing.
